We celebrated our annual Yolka on Jan. 15 2023
With much joy we celebrated our annual Christmas Yolka on January 15, 2023. Following Divine Liturgy, we had a festive meal provided by good number of parishoners. Afterward, many of the younger ones put on a Christmas show consisting of a play, singing carols, music with guitar, violin, sticks, bells, and even accordian.
Frosia, Tanya, Xenia, Oliver, Colin started off with the play, "The Great Valuable Gift on Christmas Day."
Tanya, Frosia, and Sima sang the carol "Эта ночь святая."
Xenia and Sima sang "O Holy Night" with Olive on guitar.
R. Mark and his students performed two carols "Небо и Земля" and "What Child is This?"
Mat. Anya and her students performed "Drummer Boy" with sticks and "Jingle Bells" with bells.
Sophia performed "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star" on violin.
Joseph performed "Joy to the World" on violin.
Magdalena recited a Romanian carol.
Laura recited the last lines of "How the Grinch Stole Christmas"
Mary sang some verses from the "12 Days of Christmas"
Phoebe played the "Boy from Krakow" on accordian.
For an amazing grand finale, the Koubec family played a Quebecois medley on violin, guitar, two accordions, 4 voices, and 8 stomping feet. This medley consisted of the songs:
Reel de la Broue
Reel des Voyageurs
Le Batteux
Hommage a Edmond Parizeau
Following this marvelous performance, we had a group photo of all the younger ones and ended with Fr, Chad thanking all and leading the closing prayer. Gifts to the kids were given out. We departed with beautiful memories and music echoing in our hearts.
